ACOTRO may, from time to time, engage in a limited form of commercial activity that involves the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information. ACOTRO also engages in non-commercial activities under its mandate as administrator of the Substantial Equivalency Assessment System (SEAS) that may also involve the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information. When we collect, use, store and/or disclose your personal information, we are committed to ensuring that this is done in a manner that respects your privacy rights and in accordance with applicable law. Please note that ACOTRO may change any part of its Privacy Statement at any time. Changes will be effective when posted on ACOTRO's website.

ACOTRO’s privacy statement describes how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed, how your information is protected, and how you can request revisions to your personal information.

We collect your personal information on our ACOTRO web site and document upload links only when it is voluntarily provided.

When a request is made to us in writing, we will respond in a timely fashion. In the rare circumstance that we may not be able to give you complete access, we will explain why and explain any recourse you may have. If we correct or update information upon your request, we will, if necessary, disclose such information to organizations that were provided the prior information.

At ACOTRO, we maintain the security of personal information through the use of safeguards that are appropriate to the form and sensitivity of the information. These safeguards may include physical locks, technological safeguards such as passwords or encryption, and procedural safeguards that ensure that we limit access to personal information on a “need-to-know” basis. Additionally, all of ACOTRO’s employees and agents are required to sign confidentiality agreements and employees are trained in respect of their obligations under this policy.

We use reasonable efforts to keep your personal information as accurate, complete and current as necessary for the purposes to which you have consented.Where we collect the information directly from you, we rely on you to update us to ensure its accuracy.

Your personal information may be disclosed only for the purposes for which you have consented and only to employees or agents of ACOTRO, approved service providers who require access to the information for the purposes for which it was collected, and any provincial occupational therapy regulatory organization with which you indicate you wish to seek registration. We may also disclose your personal information if we are permitted or required to do so by law.

Where personal information is provided to service providers, we ensure that we obtain agreements from such providers that the information is only used for the purposes for which it is provided, and that the security of such information is maintained through technological or physical means.
